You can’t get any purer than this – a beauty product with only one ingredient. Argan oil. And this silky, organic oil is so useful as it is, it’s a shame so many companies are tossing it into their current product recipes (with some not-so-good-for-you ingredients) just so they can add an “argan oil!” sticker to the packaging. (Don’t be fooled. Just because a product includes argan oil in its ingredient list doesn’t mean that product is clean and chemical-free.)

Now, back to this one-ingredient wonder. I’m a recent convert to this exotic oil, and so far I’m loving it. My sister-in-law applied it to one of her hands for a month, and the difference was amazing. It completely erased her age spots, and there was a visible difference in the condition of her skin when compared to her non-treated hand. Intrigued by this, I began my own research.

Argan oil is extracted from the Argania Spinosa tree of Morocco. This oil has earned lots of nicknames, such as the miracle oil and the liquid gold of Morocco. It is rich in essential fatty acids and has a quick absorption rate, so it can be very healing for dry and damaged skin. It also improves skin elasticity and supports cell regeneration. Oh, and did I mention that it is anti-inflammatory? It’s a got a lot going for it, so it can be used for a myriad of conditions (stretch marks, eczema, acne scars, sun damage, hyper-pigmentation, rashes, burns, age spots, even brittle nails and split ends!)

Where to buy it? I’ve seen it with a mind-boggling variety of price tags, so before you dig out your credit card, do your homework. I found a 4 oz. bottle on Amazon for $15.99. They carry quite a few brands, so look for one that is 100% pure, USDA organic certified, and bottled in the U.S.A. with higher standards. The product label should identify certifying agent name and organic ingredients by US government’s regulation.

  • Sold in some health stores but is easy to order online.
  • Average price $4.50 per ounce (note: a little goes a long ways!)
