front door wedding wreath

With both my sons planning weddings in 2020, it’s no surprise that veils and boutonnieres and bouquets are on my mind. In fact, I’m hosting a wedding shower at my home in just a few weeks. Although I’m not going overboard with lots of frilly decorations, I do want to add a few artistic touches to the décor. And this simple but sweet wedding wreath for the front door will set a romantic tone.

supplies needed:

floral suppliesstep 1 – attaching the tulle

To create a dramatic effect with the tulle, use more tha half of the 50 yard roll, bundling it into a  5 foot long piece. About 8 inches from one end, gather the bundle tightly and tie with a piece of raffia.

Next, attach the netting to the wreath with a piece of floral wire.

Flip the wreath back over to the front and “pouf” the top of the netting, as shown below.

step 2 – add the flowers

My inspiration for the flowers came from the bride’s Pinterest board. She fell in love wth the following photo and plans to mimic the look for her own bouquet. So in order to add a touch of blue, I simply painted a dried lotus pod with blue craft paint. I love the texture and color pop it adds. Use floral picks to add the artificial flowers to the wreath.

If you, too, are planning a wedding in the near future. stay tuned in to my blog, as I will be tackling lots of original wedding crafts this year. I promise you there’s lots of artsy wedding projects coming. However, I can’t help you with the emotional side of marrying off your son or daughter. I know when I witness my own son standing at that altar, it won’t be a grown man I see but a 7 year old in Batman pajamas playing with his Lego.

The biggest compliment is a little share – please pin the photo below!

  1. What a great idea! I wish I had thought of making a wreath for our front door for my daughter’s bridal shower. Pinned to my DIY wedding board 🙂

  2. This is such a pretty wreath! I’m sure whenever my daughter gets married I’ll be picturing her as a child, too. Luckily I have a few years since she’s only 12. I hope a lot of years!
