top 5 acts of ceating - myfrenchtwist.com

I did it. I completed all 52 acts of creating, a year of making beautiful things. Only it took me a bit longer than a year. Life gets in the way. Nonetheless, I did it! And here are my top 5 acts of creating.

After selling a small manufacturing company I founded and ran for 7 years, I decided to retire, organize my kitchen drawers, read some novels, and attack all those creative works in progress I had placed on the back burner for too long. Ah, to create just for the sake of creating.

You can see the entire gallery of projects I tackled here, but I’m showcasing a few of the most interesting ones below.

tiny paper pumkins at My French Twist

I just love this one, these tiny pumpkins made from craft paper. You can read more about them here.

how to make a paracord belt - myfrenchtwist.com

This was a fun project, too. A paracord belt for the survivalist in the family. Check out my tutorial here.

knitted neckwarmer pattern at myfrenchtwist.com

Apparently, people like easy patterns, and this pattern for a cozy neckwarmer is perfect for beginning knitters.

Ahh, my Department 56 Christmas village. Truly a labor of love each year when I assemble the entire village with careful attention to every life-like detail. Please, take the tour here.

simple sewing machine cover - myfrenchtwist.com

This little project couldn’t have been simpler to make – a fun fabric cover for my sewing machine. You can learn more about it here.

most labor intensive project

faux brick wall - myfrenchtwist.com

Without a doubt,  creating this faux brick wall (which not only looks like brick but feels like it too) took the most time. Patience pays off, folks, because it is also the project I’m most proud of. See my tutorial here.

most unusual project

how to make a light from x-rays - my french twist

Yep, this is a creepy one. But it’s also one of my favorites. It took me nearly a year to collect enough x-rays, but the final creation was worth it. I made this pendant light for one of my sons who inherited my sense of humor. You can read more about it here.

loveliest project

This wedding dress made from tissue paper serves no practical purpose whatsoever, but it is definitely the loveliest project I created. I made it as a prop for a trade show booth.

And there you have it. My top 5 acts of creating. But I’m not finished yet. I’ve decided to tackle this challenge another year. Perhaps I’ll be able to get the next 52 done all in 2017. Remember, follow my makes every Friday.
