Despite what TV tells us, orange is not the new black. It’s GREEN. Over the past year I’ve been transitioning into greener routines in my lifestyle and my home – especially my kitchen. And I’m happy to say that paper napkins are a thing of the past. Instead, I have an eclectic assortment of cloth napkins for everyday use. I’ve been searching for a clever way to keep them handy whenever someone’s in the kitchen – for meals or even midnight snacking. I’ve also been intrigued by all those Pinterest posts with beautifully etched glass. Then it hit me…

A little wicker basket is so not me, but a modern glass vase with some whimsical etching? Hmm…

After a quick trip to the craft store, I came home with these supplies:

  • an inexpensive glass vase
  • a bottle of Armour Etch etching cream (a small bottle goes a long way)
  • a package of Peel & Stick alphabet stencils
  • inexpensive sponge sticks or stencil brushes

step 1:

Clean the vase well with Windex.

step 2:

Position & stick the stencils onto the vase.

step 3:

Apply a generous amount of etching cream onto the stencils. Then set a timer for 30 – 40 minutes.

step 4:

Gently/lightly rinse the cream off before removing the stencils. Once stencils are removed, let the vase dry a little longer.

important:

Use an old glass jar to practice on several times before you try it on your final project. When it comes to etching cream, practice makes perfect. Before you know it, you’ll have beautiful etched glass.
