french lavender sachets

I wrote an earlier post on making sweet smelling closet sachets with rice, Epsom salt and essential oils. However, I’m more than willing to swallow my pride when I discover an improvement on an existing project. So here it is – these French lavender sachets couldn’t possibly be easier to make and they keep their fragrance much longer than ones made with rice.

supplies:

step 1 – cut & stitch fabric

Using pinking shears, cut 2 small squares, approximately 4.5″ x  4.5″, from a cotton fabric remnant. With wrong sides together, stitch around 3 sides of the two fabric squares, using a half inch seam allowance. Leave one side open.

step 2 – fill with lavender

Using a tablespoon, fill the fabric envelope with dried lavender buds. It will take about 4 heaping tablespoons. Once filled, stitch the open side closed.

It took me only a few minutes to make a handful of these sachets, using remnants from my fabric stash. And the uses are endless – tuck them away in your lingerie drawer, hang them in closets, or even add some to a housewarming gift. And I love the fact they these french lavender sachets add fragrance to my home with no chemicals or artificial substances.

The biggest compliment is a little share – pin the photo below!
