what i’m digging in march – natural cleaning products

I have brilliant daughters-in-law. I learn from them all the time. And one valuable tip I’ve received has been life-changing. Seriously. My sweet daughter-in-law Mel introduced me to Blueland natural cleaning products. And what’s so great about them? THEY WORK.

I’ve been searching for non-toxic cleaning products for years. Even before eco-friendly and  non-toxic were buzzwords. And I’ve tried more brands than I count, carefully checking their ingredient lists in the Environmental Working Group’s database. Yep, I do nerdy things like that. And here’s what I’ve learned.

  • Don’t be fooled by greenwashing. Packaging can be deceptive; you have to research the ingredients to see if the product is truly non-toxic.
  • Just because a product is safe doesn’t mean it’s effective. (I can’t tell you how many products I’ve used that simply don’t work.)
  • Although more natural products are coming onto the scene, they are not always easy to find. And who has time to shop from multiple stores?

Back to Mel. She told me she stumbled upon a little company called Blueland, and she loves their eco-friendly packaging. But mostly, she loves how they work. So I researched them for myself and decided to give them a try. O.M.G.  (And just so you know, this is not a sponsored post. I really, truly dig these products.)

how it works

You get a spray bottle. You get little packs of refill tablets. Fill the bottle with water, and toss in a dissolvable tablet. I use their bathroom cleaner and all purpose cleaner. I have not yet tried their glass cleaner but plan to. And one more disclosure: Mel suggested that I buy my own spray bottles, as she found the Blueland bottles broke easily. I took her suggestion and bought these, which have worked great.

I also use their laundry tablets, which come in a little steel tin. Honestly, I didn’t expect them to work, because I’m picky about my laundry. Well, Blueland didn’t disappoint.

Finally, I decided to try Blueland’s dishwasher tablets, although I was certain they wouldn’t work as well as Cascade. I’m being honest here. I’ve tried so many natural dishwasher products that left my coffee cups dingy. But… you guessed it. These work great!

So there you have it. I’ve finally found cleaning products I love. Blueland is definitely what I’m digging in March.
